In absence of a poem.I chewed my pen to the nib
and swallowed the ink thoughtlessly,
but no matter how long I thought,
I couldn't say what you mean to me.

I tried, I tried and I tested,
every word in my diminutive range,
but I screwed up more pieces of paper
and happened upon something strange;

I noticed words, which have served me,
for all of my formative years,
had no power to convey my gratitude
for the times that you dried my tears.

Whenever I doubt myself (often),
You're the one who tells me I'm wrong
You lift up my chin and remind me, wait
for the good things that will come along.

I can't find a way to express how
you are the saving grace in my head.

The White ThingsNothing is as far away as a minute ago.
No matter how hard you row against the tide

Your tongue tells a tale as strong as the liquor

whispered affections with the afflictions of youth.
You lie with your eyes and deceive with your hips;
I die in your arms and taste death on your lips.

Liar boy, lover boy, whom I love the most,
lift up your glass for a seraphim toast.
You lie when you speak but can't lie what you feel,
I know what you moan to my teeth is all real.

AfterIt follows me.
My silver skeined ghost.

An almost imperceptible thread;
only visible when you shine light
directly upon it.
It follows me.

It rides the underground.
It hides under bridges,
Under trains.
It is woven into the spools of tar
that form the roads between.

Inevitably if I walk too fast
it reminds me -
Like the tug of stitches in your cheek
that reminds you; you have lost your wisdom.
It reminds me.

It trips me in doorways,
when my mind is elsewhere.
If I look away from it -
- it slips round my neck.
Another knot to throw over the beams
it mauls me without a fair chance.

Awkward 4 - Draft One /The most important thing in my life (note I said thing, not person) is my internet connection.

There are days when I don't eat, days I don't shower, months I don't leave my house – but every day has the internet in it. It is my only form of communication.

When I am in trouble it's how I call for help, it's how I express myself, it's how I live, cooped up in this tiny little box of exposed wires and razors.

Today that internet was disconnected. It's not the end of the world (luckily) I have another internet connection for back up. I can't use skype or second life for a week or two but I can survive.

Awkward 3 - Draft One /The thing I like about writing is you can write yourself into well organised lines. You can, if the mood takes you, begin an autobiography about being a fuck up and convince yourself that you are creating order out of chaos. You are not. Things are exactly where you left them and won't move unless you move them. I won't move them, of course. I am comfortable in my sack of misery.

But all too often life overwhelms me. I get in a fight with someone – usually someone who doesn't even know me, but whatever insult they decide to throw my way, however unfounded or untrue, never gets forgotten.

Awkward 2 - Draft One /I've got a song stuck in my head today. It's an old song, by a band called Hanson. Its a mortifying thing to confess but I am trying to be honest. The song was called 'Weird'. There's a part of it about how you aren't different but your not the same. I relate to that. I'm certainly no rebellious revolutionary. I'd rather keep my head down and not get noticed, but I'm not a quiet wallflower hermit type either. I care too much about helping people – or trying to.

Something Hatching - Draft One /Who would concieve such a thing was possible, on that first day in May, when your eyes met mine and I met my match. Who would have thought... Perhaps a week later, when something was growing, unspoken and unwanted between us, sat awkwardly between us on the couch talking about Obama and Stephanie Meyer - we averted our eyes.

Perhaps then, we should not have, we should have addressed the issue, stamped it and posted it to a far off place; but we did not - and the thing that was growing is now hatching.

Tahiti - Draft One /When your husband hits you he hits your soul. He beats it into a new shape that doesnt fit your body any more. It jangles when you walk and you are constantly aware of it.

Your soul is beaten into a new shape that fits into the 'Beaten woman' pigeonhole. I hate that hole.

Even if you get away your soul may never reform. My soul is a sharp and piercing triangle slashing threads out of my circular flesh.

I wonder if there is a way to reform, to fight your soul back into shape. To scrub the stains of abuse off your flesh like you would fight cellulite. Can it be erradicated with good diet and regular intercourse?

I don't know.
