Readings, prompts, interviews, Q&A All sound good! Maybe exchanges also. I think visual as well as written prompts would be nice. Maybe coordinate skype (audio and/or visual) with the launch event? And maybe eating and drinking together -- across states and continents. The same foods, or local traditional items. I will think some more...
Perhaps. Although I wouldn't be overly keen on Skype conferencing the launch, simply because personally I have social anxiety disorder, and I'd be worried that it would make people like me feel really intimidated.
But that kind of thing might be possible once people have made friends in the room :]
I understand about having difficulties interacting with people. About skype, at different times and places, the video/audio portion isn't available, and it does have options -- text and/or audio and/or video. And the computer's camera can always be covered. Maybe a text-only meeting could come first, and if people want to slowly add the other portions, they could choose to. But if people want to stay with text, I guess the DA chat room is the right way to go.
Uhm, sorry, but what exactly is a 'flash prompt night'? And I've got more questions: What are the possibilities in this chatroom ? Text only or does it support voice (like skype)? What about posting images? Just asking to come up with some good additional suggestions what you could do, as different media would allow different things. And also: What do you plan to do with it later? Cause the launch event should be attractive to people who want to do whatever is planned in the chatroom later.
General Idea for now: If the main aim is to revitalize the chat room and create some kind of a coherent group that wants to talk about literature more often: How about some 'getting to know each other' stuff. Maybe not to personal, everyone should be able to choose how personal he want to get in the chat. But how about something like what is your current favourite piece of literature on da and why. That gives us a starting point for discussions and gives us a first glimpse of how we all perceive literature. People should be told in advance though, so they can contemplate the question.

I know I'm asking for WAY too much, but I can wish
